I’ve disabled it myself, but I’m not sure if mic input is better now. It could be helpful only tome sound cards.

I’m glad it helped. Also problem seems to be solved on Xubuntu 12.04. I will be glad to hear if it works on other distros too.

Worked for me in Fedora 17 but seems to cause problems with audio in flash (at least on videos in google chrome :s )

Just the second option and everything is fine, if I do the the steps of the first option I have problems with flash videos

Hi, i tried this, it improved the skype audio greatly but i've lost the detection of my mic in pulseaudio since then :-/ , tried to switch all on alsa and got no sound , so i reinstalled pulseaudio but still no mic detected :-/

Hi check in my Skype section. There I have few articles on problems I experienced with Skype microphones. Also it strongly depends on Skype version you need for me 2.0.x Skype works good.

The note about killing the pulseaudio daemon (forcing it to restart) solved a different problem for me (Linux Mint Xfce on an older MacBook Pro).

Many thanks for the tip on removing the crackling audio output. The "tsched=0" addition was successful in fixing the sound on my Dell Vostro, with Debian Wheezy installed.
