Father Daniil Sysoev – New times Orthodox Christian Martyr of the 21-st century

Thursday, August 9th, 2012

Christianity is well known to have almost “countless” number of known and unknown Christian martyrs. Martyrdom has been considered of a high esteem especially in the dawn of Christianity. Short after the martyrdom of the Lord Jesus Christ, many faithful to his teaching (including many of the holy apostles) endured martyrdom similar to the Lord’s crucifix on Golgotha.

We’re almost living in a peaceful age with no official persecution of Church the if compared to many of the previous centuries. Nomatter faithful Christian still shed their blood for Christ. Probably in Christian missions, all around the world even in the moment of writting this article some faithful Christ servent is suffering martyrdom. In this post I will devote to one modern day Russian martyr saints of our Orthodox Christian faith – Father Danail Sysoev. He is most recent martyr saint I know of. Fr. Sysoev is still not officially canonized in the Russian Orthodox Chuch because according to Church canons, to proclaim someone officially a saint – 50 years or so has to pass since the saints earthly death.
Fr Danail Sysoev was a faithful God servent who has who lead a lot of people to the Lord Jesus Christ, by writting books, radio and TV talks, preaches and spiritual governing. I heard of him by Vsevolod a Russian brother in Christ from Moscow, I met just few days ago. Vsevolod shared with me that he is a spiritual child of father Danail Sysoev, because it was through him he was lead to Christ ….

Father Danail Sysoev was a fervent missionary for Christ and turned probably tens of thousands (or even hundreds of thousands) of people to faith in Christ in the only fully thruthful Orthodox Christian faith.

The Father was threaten numerous times over phone to stop preaching Christ or else he would be killed. But the continuing threats did not frightened him at all but on the contrary he even more fervently continued preaching the Gospel following the instructions of the Lord himself who said himself:

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spiritteaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
Mathew 28:19-29

The father has done a great work for the heavenly kingdom, writting in his short 35 years of eartly living – 28 books ! ! !, besides that he was leading holy liturgies, doing missionary work, was a confessor of many and was taking care for his family ! ! !

The new-martyr saint works are explaining in good detail the Orthodox Christian faith and how by following and understanding correctly our faith we can reach paradise (The Heavenly Jerusalem) our Lord Jesus Christ promised us.
The Hierarch inspired hundred of thousands Christians all around the world to do a missionary work and live a life for Christ and is a well known and probaly the most bright nowadays primer of a person who worked hard for bring Christ kingdom on earth – just like our Church holy fathers.
Danail Sysoev was “dreaming” (desiring) for martyrdom. He even explained in his works that Martyrdom is one of the best glorious ending a Christian can have for his faith (this is also in concurrence with holy fathers writtings and our Church 2011 years tradition.

The Father was famous among Muslims in Russia for leading open debates with Muslims, questioning validity of Islam? Showing with multiple sources that Christ is the only “door” and God through which one can enter heaven.
Because of that and because of his truthful life like Christ said he was persecuted, blasphemed and killed for Christ’s name.
The missionary work Fr. Sysoev is one of the biggest missionary present works done within the Russian Orthodox Church.

Whole Russian nation was in shock in 20th of November 2009, when an unknown masked man entered the Church where the father was serving, the killed called out Father Sysoev’s name and shot him twice – once in forehead and once in chest …

The whole brutal scene occured in Moscow Church building which the father built himself collecting money in his lifetime….

Below is a short TV report of the brutal murder of the new-martyr, as well as the last preach of the father translated to English:

By the fr. last preach it is easy to determine the great spiritual experience and spiritual heights the martyr reached prior to his martyrdom.
There is also a full length documentary in Russian about Father Daniil Sysoev life but unfortunately I couldn’t find it with english subtitles, however it will be worthy for Christians speaking any Slavic language. A Black and White Story and To Download an Apple a nice artistic videos produced by a friend

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

Here are two really nice videos produced by Daniela Popova.

One is called Black and White Story and the other one is with the funny name To Download an Apple

The videos was produced for her Graduation assignment in NATFA (National Academy of Theater and Film arts).
Even better the Black and White Story Video has been selected for the Festival of the Orthodox Christian Cinema in Moscow.
The movie was selected by a the jury on the festival (a professor) who realized there is a deeper spiritual meaning behind the Black and White Story

The Black & White Story Video has also an outstanding bulgarian national folklore music combined with some modern day music, just check it out and enjoy.

The second movie To Download an Apple is a humorous one and I believe presents the sometimes stupid and serious efforts we do to follow fake imaginative goals.

As Daniela is a Christian the movies contain also a hidden Christian messages 😉
I greet her for the great work! Considering the uniqueness of the videos it’s obvious Daniela is really talented!
I’m looking forward to see some more from her works.

An Orthodox Christian movie worthy to see (Ostrov)

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

Two days ago I’ve downloaded a movie really worthy to see. The movie is russian and is named Ostrov (An Island). It’s a fictionary movie about a 20th century Eastern Orthodox monk whose warm prayer possesses miraculous powers and has a clairvoyance gift from God. Moreover the guy is living his all life with a guilt of a murder he was forced to commit in his early days during the WW2. I’ve watched the movie twice for the last 2 days I was so inspired. Yesterday Order (Ivo) a friend of mine from Varna was a guest of mine so I was quite happy. Today we first went for a holy Liturgy in the morning with Static and another friend of Static known under the name (Duf) into the temple Holy Trinity here in Dobrich. Right after the church service we’ve collected Ivo from home cause he was still sleeping and went for a drink Together with Amridikon. Quite a nice time. Now I’m back home blogging. I haven’t used beryl for quite some time and I started using it since a couple of days and I have to say it’s quite handy to use. Two days ago I’ve also watched the new Terminator movie (Salvation) to generalize it ain’t a bad movie if you just want to watch something with blows and action but still nothing to compare against the golden Terminator 2 (Judgement Day). This is mostly how my days are passing by. Thanks be to God for everything!END—–

Orthodox New Testament Bible & Psalms (Psalter) translated from Greek

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

In relation with some of my previous posts earlier. I looked for an Orthodox versionof the Bible in English. My instant search for that was stimulated because I suspect that many of the protestantbibles are not accurate enough.
For instance many words meanings are translated to be in accordance with sometraditional protastant popular teachings. This of course if happens too often could sometimes even change wholesentence meanings.
All I can find so far is a translation of the Orthodox New Testament & The Psalms
from Greek. Originally they reside on on the followingEastern Orthodox website . For some convenience I’ve mirrored both the Orthodox New Testament & The Psalms.
They can be downloeded:
1. The Orthodox New Testament Septuagint translation from greek
2. As well as the The Psalter
.A version of the Bulgarian Orthodox Bible is located here .Some more interesting articles concerning orthodoxy are located on the orthodox study bible website
.That’s mostly what I can find as an orthodox bible. If I find something more I’ll blog it.By the way today I red about St. Justin the Martyr. Who used to be a phisopher in the tradition of Sacrates and Heraclitesand converted to Christianity and accepted martyrdom for Christ in the distant 165 A.D.Read further for this great Saint and early christian apologist here

Download Bulgarian Orthodox Bible in various file formats

Monday, September 28th, 2009

I’ve came to the conclusion that there is no easily to find
bulgarian orthodox bible for download.
Thus after spending an hour Googling for Bulgarian Orthodox bible
I finally found one. The one I found was in DOC and I thought
that it would be nice if the Bulgarian Orthodox Bible is available
for download in various formats for users convenience.
For that reason I’ve converted the bulgarian orthodox bible I found
to a few of the most famous desktop reading formats out there and
stored it on my machine. I’ve also built a small website through
which The Bulgarian Orthodox
Bible can be downloaded
. Currently the website offers a
bulgarian orthodox available for download in (DOC, ODT, TXT, PDF)
formats, as well as the same formats are prepared for download in RAR
archive. I truly hope this would be useful to the fellow orthodox
bulgarian brothers and sisters.

Orthodox Prophecies about the End of The World and the Coming Antichrst, The Second coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Two days ago while I was looking for various Orthodox related writtings, I found some interesting
places containing many prophecies of saints concerning the rule of the antichrist and the coming end
time terrible days. What the saint prophets say is more than scary. Most of the signs described to be
seen in the end times are already present. I’ve mirrored the website of orthodoxheritage – a newsletter published by the Greek Orthodox Brotherhood of St. Poimen, a 501 here .
The link to the orthodox prophecies is located here . I’ve also mirrored many other pages I found online
on a custom user site in geocities .
Here is a link to the mirrored pages with orthodox prophecies concerning end times

Some of the mentioned things that struck me was:
1. People will be attached to their gadgets more than to their relatives ( already happening)2. People to be not having lack3. Will communicate everywhere freely like they’re in the same room ( already fulfilled)4. People will fly in the clouds and dive into the oceans (fulfilled)5. Many churches will be rebuild and made their cupola made wonderfully ornated (fulfilled – interesting to notethat old orthodox churches’s cupolas are not painted, Even I think it’s prohobited by the church rules to do so)6. Man will trust his gadget more than his first neighbor (on it’s way to be fulfilled)7. People will drive in rigs upon the moon and stars. (already happened)8. The whole world will be plagued by a strange disease and nobody will be able to find a cure; everybody will say I know, I know, because I am learned and smart, but nobody will know anything. (already fulfiller or partly fulfilled?)9. People will be lost and will become more and more senseless day by day. (currently fulfilling)10. Men will be born not knowing who was their grand-father and great grand-father. (partly fulfilled)11. It will not be possible to distinguish a man from a woman. Everybody will dress the same. (fulfilled)12. People will believe that their illusion is the real truth, although there will be no truth in their heads. (fulfilled)13. Men will build a box and within will be some kind of gadget with images. With the help of this image-gadget man will be able to see everything that is happening all over the world.14. After the Second Big War, all of that will be just a bitter illusion, because many will forget God and they will worship only their own human intelligence (fulfilled)15.. A world war III would burst out (not yet fulfilled)16. Great famine after World war 317. Many will worship the Antichrist and accept his evil system (and his number, the number of the beast)Most of the prophecies I publish are given to The Righteous Dimitri Tarabibicz (recorder around 1850s),
He was illiterate Serbian villager who lived an extremely pious manner in the mid 19th century.
This is small portion of all the Orthodox Prophecies we the Orthodox Christians has left as a heritageof the Holy Fathers.
