The player should autodetect your configuration with no problems if you have your ULTRASND or BLASTER environment variables set correctly. However, if you have a problem with running the .exe itself, all the modules are included as .s3m format, so you can use your player of choice. (++++) I n f o r m a t i o n (++++) Progression was conceived over the process of approximately 3 months. Each of the songs took a sizable amount of time, usually in the order of 20 to 40 hours, to complete. Hopefully the work was worth it. :) The coding took me about a week (since my C skills suck :>) however I figured, might as well do it myself, after all I am going to get my B.S. in comp sci in about a year so i _better_ be able to code something. All tunes were written in ScreamTracker 3.2, and all code was done in Watcom 10.0 with the PMODE/W header from Tran. It's very hard to continue to create and surpass what you have already accomplished. In my case, I did not at first feel up to the somewhat daunting task of trying to write a better musicdisk than my earlier Digital Psychosis piece. DP took a really really long time to do, but thankfully the positive response I have received from it has made the effort worthwhile. With this musicdisk, I have taken a more realistic-sounding path. This is evident in most of the tunes, especially in Metroplex and Greynote. It is true that certain musical styles are almost impossible to represent accurately in a tracker, but I firmly believe that it is possible to come very close to something you would hear on a CD. By choosing good sample sets and accurate orchestration, one can almost reach professional levels in a tracker. Of course most of the samples are recorded at 22khz, 8-bit mono, so there is a lack of resolution that one may notice as compared to a CD. It is minimal, however, as I have tried to keep as much high-frequency data in as was possible. Hopefully this results in a quite convincing set of music. Many people will probably comment on the diversity evident in this collection. It goes from club-jazz, to prog rock, to almost Aphex Twin-sounding dance grooves, and back again. I make no apologies for this, since I enjoy writing all of these styles, and more. Some people have said that my general artistic touch/style carries through no matter what medium the song is in, perhaps that is true, I obviously can't tell.. :) I am in three groups, FM (Five Musicians), which is a group co-founded by Mellow-D and myself. Read the FM.NFO file for more information about FM and what its goals are. Legend Design is the German demo group with which I contribute musik, and Straylight Productions is a commercial group consisting of me, Basehead/FM, and Leviathan/Renaissance which produces music for computer games, both MIDI and tracked. Currently we are working with Softdisk Publishing and Origin Systems, and our work will be featured in a number of on-the-shelf games. I hope you enjoy this disk, most of the songs have taken an extreme amount of effort to do, and it's taken a lot of time which could have gone towards more profitable ventures. I did it because I care a lot about the music scene, and want it to continue to be the wonderful creative forum it is. May it live long and flourish. Sincerely, Andy Sega Necros / FM necros@dragon.axs.net (++++) Greetings (++++) The concept of 'greets' in general is pretty silly, since trying to write down a list of ten thousand names who I would wish to say hello to is totally beyond my capabilities. However there are some people which I would like to thank for their specific help in the production of this musicdisk: Basehead / FM - Your support and critiques of the songs has helped to make them a lot better, my sincere thanks. Pelusa - Muchas gracias for the DSIK 2.05 playing routines, it saved me a lot of work. Channel 7 Software, Softdisk Publishing, Origin Systems - My sincere thanks for letting me do game music for your companies. Without that funding, I would have to work some crappy job at some mall or something, and have no time to ever be able to put this together. #trax - Even though you get a bit lame sometimes, 95% of you are great people, keep up the good work. The FM members - Thanks for making my concept of a good music group a reality. Xten/iCE - Your art is phenomenal. thanks for helping me out :> (++++) Legal Stuff (++++) This archive may NOT be distributed on ANY CD-ROM without the express written consent of Andrew G. Sega.
