Nice article, but is it really necessary?

Normally the currently running SSH process is not killed by restarting SSHD, so that you always have the terminal you're currently connected to. Just check the functionallty by making a new connection. I do this for years. Have you encountered problems with this approach? Maybe a distribution thing? I used RHEL and Debian without any problems with SSHD restarts.
